Born Troy Andrews, Trombone Shorty began performing at an early age, making his Jazz Fest debut with Bo Diddley at four, leading his own brass band by six, and joining Lenny Kravitz’s Electric Church World Tour as a teenager. Since then, he has become known not only as a virtuoso trombonist but also as a charismatic performer and crossover star.

Shorty has released five chart-topping albums, including Lifted, collaborated with artists ranging from Bruno Mars and Pharrell Williams to Ringo Starr, and performed at major festivals and events worldwide, including the Grammy Awards and multiple White House appearances. In New Orleans, he leads his own Mardi Gras parade, hosts the annual Treme Threauxdown concerts, and has become a signature closing act at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Beyond touring, Shorty founded the Trombone Shorty Foundation, which supports young musicians through programs including a cultural exchange trip to Cuba. His album Lifted blends funk, soul, R&B, and rock influences into a powerful showcase of his band’s energetic live sound. Since its release, he and his band have continued appearing on major television programs and high-profile events, including NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series and the White House’s Juneteenth celebration.
