WHERE THE WORLD'S STAGE MEETS MARSHALL
Since 1936, the Marshall Artists Series has brought extraordinary live experiences to Huntington, West Virginia, connecting generations of audiences with the transformative power of the performing arts.
Recognized as the second-oldest Town & Gown professional performing arts series in the United States, the Marshall Artists Series has spent nearly nine decades presenting world-class entertainment, inspiring ideas, and remarkable cultural experiences while serving as a cornerstone of Marshall University’s educational mission.
Each season features an exciting mix of Broadway productions, celebrated musicians, acclaimed authors, influential speakers, comedy, film, and special events—bringing nationally and internationally recognized artists and thought leaders to the Marshall University campus and the Tri-State region.
For nearly 90 years, Marshall Artists Series has brought audiences face-to-face with some of the most celebrated artists, performers, thinkers, and cultural icons of their time. From Eleanor Roosevelt and José Andrés to Sergio Mendes, Elvis Costello, Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Whoopi Goldberg, Willie Nelson, acclaimed touring Broadway productions, and groundbreaking cultural events, MAS continues to deliver unforgettable live experiences that entertain, inspire, and connect generations of audiences.
But the Marshall Artists Series has always been about more than entertainment.
Since its founding in 1936, MAS has been dedicated to enriching student learning beyond the classroom. That commitment remains as strong today as it was nearly 90 years ago.
For generations, Marshall University students have experienced their first Broadway musical, heard a bestselling author share new ideas, discovered different cultures through music and dance, and been inspired by some of the world’s most influential artists, performers, and thinkers—all through the Marshall Artists Series.
For nearly 90 years, Marshall University students have received free admission to Marshall Artists Series performances. This longstanding tradition reflects a simple but powerful belief: education extends far beyond the classroom. Access to extraordinary artistic experiences broadens perspectives, sparks creativity, encourages curiosity, and creates memories that last a lifetime.
Today, that mission continues to connect students and the community with world-class performers, acclaimed authors, influential speakers, and transformative cultural experiences from around the globe. Through performances, artist residencies, educational opportunities, and community engagement initiatives, MAS creates meaningful connections between artists, students, and audiences while enriching the cultural life of the region.
Nearly a century after its founding, the Marshall Artists Series remains committed to bringing the world’s leading artists, storytellers, performers, and visionaries to Marshall University—creating experiences that entertain, educate, inspire, and unite our community through the power of live performance.
